This is not a concept album, even if you feel that it might be. Album title, cover art, song titles, music - it all kind of evolved, without much planning on our part. It's the result of numerous recording sessions between May 2024 and June 2025, a time in which the world got just increasingly crazier. It would be weird if the music didn't reflect at least some of the craziness that was all around us.
Listen to this music loud enough to feel it. "Solid Wood" is a good volume reference track. Play it at a volume so that you feel immersed and hear all the textures, as if you were inside a tree. Keep that volume level for the entire album.
The beginning of "Birches, Ominous" is very quiet. This is on purpose. It wouldn't be ominous otherwise. Your LP record may eventually accumulate dust and surface damage, which will become audible on these quiet passages. Consider it a sign of time passing, your record ageing with you, or leaves covering the ground in autumn. We think that the fact that the record is audibly changing over time is in line with the general mood of this music.
"Foremost" is the gentlest track here. It is titled that way because it's the most important emotion we want you to take home from listening to this album.
