Vega, Suzanne 'Close-Up Vol 1, Love Songs'
"Close Up Volume 1: Love Songs" is the first in a series of records on which Vega reimagined songs from across her career as "The Close- Up Series". Volume One in the series treats us to songs about love, in intimate arrangements that let the songs speak for themselves. Widely regarded as one of the foremost songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Vega"s self-titled debut album was co-produced by Steve Addabbo and Lenny Kaye and achieved platinum status. "Marlene on the Wall" was a surprise hit in the U.K. and Rolling Stone included the record in their "100 Greatest Recordings of the 1980s." Pressed on 180 gram heavyweight black vinyl.
